All dogs must have a minimum of six weeks growth of hair.

Competitors should have their dogs ready for the judge´s inspection 30 minutes before their class begins.

General rules and judging guidelines

All eligible dogs must have a minimum of six weeks growth of hair. Poodles should have at least one inch of hair and preferably no visible pattern. All dogs should be free of mats, freshly shampooed and dried, with ears cleaned, toenails slipped prior to the competition. As a rule. Terriers that are being handstripped are not freshly bathed, since wetting softens the hair and causes it to blow. Chalk may be used as a cleaning agent provided all traces of it are removed from the coat before the judges begin final deliberations. The genital and stomach areas can be pretrimmed (for sanitary reasons) according to breed standards, we well as the pads under the feet. All other trimming shall be done in the ring only.

All styles of grooming are permitted: clipping, scissoring, straight shears, thinning shears, hand-stripping, plucking and carding. Any trim is permitted of Poodles, including the T-Clip, and the show Puppy, Continental and English Saddle clips.

Competitors should have their dogs ready for the judges´s inspection 30 minutes before their class begins. The judges will examine the dogs prior to the start of the various classes to determine overall cleanliness and the general condition of the coat. At this time dogs with insufficient coat growth, dogs with parasites, or dogs that have been excessively pretrimmed may be dismissed. When the allotted class times are up, the judges will examine the dogs by hand and comb through the coat, taking the quality of the groomer work.

In the hotle groomes will be held responsible for their dog´s care and well-being during the show. A “walking” and lavatory area for all dogs will be designated and plastic bags will be at cash desk.
